Dogged determination
Santiago, Chile (2008) a pound-dog escapee is tragically struck by a truck while crossing a multi-lane highway. A traffic video camera captures the incident and what unfolds next. Imagine the surprise when a second dog is spotted approaching him. Also an escapee from the pound, the second dog attempts to move the first dogs body. He moves the injured body with his front paws, using his back paws for leverage and drags the first dog to the safety at the side of the road. Perhaps in an event such as this animals can use their burst of adrenalin as humans have been known to. It was suggested that the two dogs had formed a bond whilst at the pound. Some workers spot the two animals and approach to help.
A remarkable act indeed. Despite the claim in the voice-over of some versions of this video, the injured dog did not survive. Footage can be found at the following link but may disturb some viewers.
