Why Dogs are Loving Hugo’s Ice Creamery

On these really hot days we all appreciate a cool treat.  But how about a really cool and delicious treat for your furchild? You may remember Jenna from our recent blog about ‘Paws in The Park’?  Well some summers ago now, Jenna journeyed into the pet industry when she began when selling Doggie Tea.

Meanwhile, one sunny afternoon at the Gold Coast back in 2015 the original founders of Hugo’s were wishing they could spoil their dog Hugo with an icecream. However, they were few and far between and it was difficult to find such a treat suitable such as this for a doggo (at least one that wasn’t highly processed). This meant there was a gap in the market, so they went studiously about finding a solution.

Then the fun began, with the purchase of an ice-cream machine.  Many experiments ensued with multitudes of fresh ingredient combinations.  There were a few ‘interesting’ outcomes, but some encouragement from some dairy-free ice cream extraordinaires propelled them towards the final wonderful product Hugo’s is today.

Hugo’s Ice Creamery were one of the first stallholders at Paws In The Park and Jenna’s dog Ruby just loved them. Ruby has such a tough life with her Mum ‘Jenna’ running a doggy ice cream business, but some dog has got to do it. 

We imagine being a canine taste tester could be very tough.  But every dog is different, so a number of canine taste testers have been asked their professional opinion over the years.  The end result of this delicious adventure were 3 fantastic flavours….
Peanut Butter & Bacon, Strawberry & Carob.  Then during the year other special edition flavours are brought out too.
