Lost Dog
This is a soft word for anyone out there who’s lost a dog. Anyone who has lost a dog to sickness, injury or old age. The passing of a beloved pet is perplexing to say the least. A roller-coaster of memories and emotions. And of course there’s that big ‘gap’ they leave in your heart and the house. But we can still honour them. Still give thanks that we were lucky enough to know them. Because when they’re gone from here we have a lot of questions and we do a lot of soul searching. Whatever you believe within or outside of this realm as we know it, I’m convinced that the journey we have when we loved a dog, no matter how painfully it ends, it’s ‘worth it’. And who are we to say when something has ended? Remember that movie ‘Pay it forward’? Maybe we can take the joy a pet has given us and keep it moving.
