Law clamps down on dog breeder
A bill has just been introduced making the registration of dog breeders compulsory. This should make it easier for authorities to ascertain which establishments are putting profit before the welfare of the animals they generate. It has taken thousands of hours to create the review an the R.S.P.C.A. has helped the government to develop standards and guidelines. I haven’t heard yet just how the registered breeders will be ‘policed’.
A breeder from Buccan Qld was slapped with 149 care breaches and also was not fit to face court. When folks get into a project like breeding there is so much to know. Is doesn’t matter how good a person’s intentions are. They need to be realistic. If the practical knowledge and dedication to animals is absent, neglect, breeding deformities and genetic conditions will soon appear.
Its nice to know someone is thinking of those pooches who can’t speak for themselves. The regulations on dog breeders are around 80 years old so no doubt they were ready for review. I don’t believe the new system will put a complete stop to back yard breeders. The next part is up to us. Only select your pup or dog from a shelter or a registered breeder. And do your homework on the breeder. You need to be prepared with a number of questions and need to be able to attend the location from where you are buying. I would suggest doing this ahead of time, long before you consider taking a dog from them.
