Dog Kong review
There are a lot of chew toys out there for dogs but one I have found to be valuable is the Kong classic or Kong extreme. They look like the shape of a snowman is the best way I can describe. Another stuffable chew toy is the Goughnut K9 Kup shaped like (wait for it) a cup. I have ordered one of these and can give you some feedback soon.
The beauty of the Kong and Goughnut is that they are made from rubber which is a natural material. Lets say more natural than e.g. nylon which some boneshaped-chews are made from. They come in varying sizes and resistance so you buy one appropriate for a pup or a fully grown power-chewer. Incorporating (stuffing) the toy with dog food provides extra time in which to consume the food and a mental challenge. Your dog will soon develop a preference for chewing his Kong than the pair of sneakers you left by the door.
If your dog enjoys a Kong, once he is experienced with it you can prolong the reward by freezing it overnight filled with wet food. Barf is ideal for this. If you insist on using dry food you can wet it before stuffing and freezing. Check out their website for online recipe suggestions.
Speak to your vet about appropriate toys for your dog. Make sure you supervise your dog with chew-toys. Any damaged toys should be disposed of. We do not receive any benefits for product reviews.
