Celebrating a special dog

When a dog goes, a part of you goes with them.  It is only time which can heal the hole they leave in your heart.  There are days, months and years go by that we miss them as we think about how much joy and meaning they brought to our lives.  In caring for them we meet our own needs too.  We adore them.  We feel responsible for them.  We’ve laughed at them, run with them and dripped our tears onto their soft coats.

The times we’ve held them, they may have really been holding us and we cannot stop listening and longing for them as we did before.  We see a dog similar down the street and our heart leaps.  Even our dearest and loving memories of them do not replace their delightful presence.  This is a shout-out to anyone who is missing a furry friend. Lets give thanks for them and trust that in their passing they are now free.
