Dog Collar Grab
Some dogs don’t like having their collar grabbed. It is important for dogs to learn to tolerate their collar being grabbed quickly in case of danger. You can condition your pooch with some positive rewards. Start off slow by rewarding for your dog just for letting you touch his collar then build up gradually. A few times a day for even 30 seconds will help.
As you advance you will need to practice grabbing the collar with either hand from a variety of angles. It might be whilst you are standing in front or behind him. Grab from the top, side or underneath the chin. You can introduce verbal noise from yourself too in case you ever need to do it whilst yelling to someone else.
If you choose to use a clicker to mark the correct behaviour, use it in the hand which is not grabbing the collar as it is right next to your dogs ears.
