What’s in a Dog’s name?
It always brings smile to our face when we get to meet a new dog. And then we hear that name and it’s not just a means of identifying a dog. Sometimes like people, they seem to grow into their names or you begin to see quirks in their personality, which come to mind when you say their name.
Some days the van door rolls back and we are greeting a new furry customer. Ok girls, this is…..’Bruce’. Hey everyone, meet Oscar or Bubba J. If your dog’s name is Bella she has last year’s most popular female dog name in Australia. And it was Charlie for the males. We’ve got Max’s, Ruby’s and Honey’s which we sometimes give second names so we know which one we’re referring to.
Whether your Coco represents Coco Chanel or is more like Coco the clown, the name will still fit. You may be more comfortable whistling your pooch than calling out ‘Fluffinella’ when you can’t see your doggy in the yard but listen to what happened to a fellow dog lover from the dog park. He told us of the young shepherd he’d adopted. She had a lovely woman’s name and not a typical dog name. (I am not disclosing the name in this blog.) He’d already considered changing it but then…on the very first time arriving home and loading her out of the car she slipped through someone’s grasp and headed down the street. He called her name and she came back!!! There was no way he was changing her name now.
