Don’t try to Cure Dog Aggression by being Aggressive.
Dogs which are aggressive are over-aroused & the last thing that a dog wants is for you to escalate that behaviour. A dog may be pushed more out of control by a person yelling at it or worse smacking it.
If your dog is aggressive, stay calm & assertive & still. Let the aggression evaporate and allow the dog to reach a calm state of mind. It won’t take too long. When your dog is calm, try using a simple command like SIT or DOWN. Reward the resulting calm behaviour with a “GOOD BOY” using a soft voice or even a food reward or treat.
