Give the dog a Bone
Adding a bone to your dog’s diet provides a wonderful chewing experience and will help prevent Gum Disease in dogs, provided you follow some basic rules.
Speak to your vet for advice. Bones must be raw.
Cooked bones can cause internal damage to your dog when they splinter. They have pierced and obstructed in the past so don’t let your dog become the next statistic.
Bones should be large enough that the dog is not fitting the whole bone in its mouth or tempted to swallow it whole. Large bones such as Knuckle bones & brisket bones are very good.
An excess of raw bones can lead to constipation so 1 to 2 a week with several days in between is enough.
Dental disease in dogs, may inhibit some dogs from enjoying bones.
As bones are often guarded by dogs, it’s a good idea to discourage children or other dogs from encroaching.
