Flying hounds
Many of us know the type of anxiety you might find in the airport. Anything from hair on end or a churning tummy right through to a full-blown panic attack. Not all of us are enthusiastic about flying.
I’ve often seen the detection dogs making their way along a line of passengers waiting to board or exit. New York International Airport is a busy place but some of those on the ground are volunteers who really want to help alleviate the intensity some folks experience before flying.
Dogs with the PUPs (Pets Unstressing Passengers) program and their handlers go about their business helping everyone to relax. Greeting passengers (those willing) and giving special attention to travellers who’d rather be staying on the ground. It might be a doggy nuzzle, lick or just providing a wonderful furry coat to receive some ‘heavy petting’. Feel the stress just melting away.
