Digger Doggy
Before you get annoyed at your dog digging, try and identify if there’s a reason (other than just being a dog). Sometimes if a dog digs into vegetation or roots of plants, especially if the roots are chewed it is a sign of lack of nutrients.
They also dig to create a cool or warm place to lie, usually under bushes or cover. They may be looking for food or just plain stressed and trying to blow off pent up energy. If your dog is digging near a fence it may be an escape attempt.
It is best to nominate a place where they ARE allowed to dig rather just not allow the behaviour. After all… dogs will be dogs.
