Have you seen the amazing Airlift by Fido Pro?
Emergency dog carrying sling…
Have you ever needed to lift your dog in an emergency or to a vehicle whilst needing to support his/her body? Imagine only being a kilometre into your adventure and needing to carry your dog to safety. Imagine being camping or hiking in a remote area with an emergency such as an injury or snake bite. Imagine needing urgent medical help for your best furry friend in a place where there is no mobile phone reception. Airlift by Fido Pro is an excellent piece of equipment to own and it’s lightweight and simple design means you won’t be left in a pickle should you need its help. The Fido Pro Airlift comes in Medium, Large & Extra-Large.
Whilst you have this ‘piece’ of kit in your arsenal, you’ll have ‘peace’ of mind you can move your dog to help. The sling folds up compactly in its tiny stuff bag for transportation and the XL-2 provides a helpful option of extra equipment for an extra person to be able to help – additional strap configurations mean there is 2 options to carry – on your back or handles over your dog’s back.
The design of the Fido Pro Airlift was born out of necessity when ‘Remi’s’ pet parent ‘Paul Hoskinson’ was many miles into an adventure with her near Aspen Colorado. The 30Kg pooch had a gash in her leg after being clipped by a ski. Whilst a first aid kit was effective in halting the bleeding, Remi was unable to walk. With friends and ingenuity, the humans were able to combine various gear including a backpack to get Remi to medical help (and a full recovery) but afterwards Paul couldn’t stop thinking about how this story may have ended differently. In many other cases where provisions couldn’t be made, owners have had to do the unthinkable and leave their dog to go for help. Paul knew there was a need for a product on the market which would allow a single person to carry their dog to safety.
If your dog has already been wearing a regular harness or pdf he/she will more easily tolerate the feeling of pressure such as a sling around the body. Naturally you should acclimate your dog to using any new equipment. When purchasing products for your dog, choosing materials and hardware of a high quality and comfort is paramount. Know your dog’s body weight at any given time so you can assess whether you can safely lift them or whether a multi-person lift is required. On the fidoprotection.com website you can find more product information, guides and video for correct sizing so you’ll need to check your dog’s measurements.
