Local dog news
Check out your local council’s website to find out what’s on or to see if there’s any dog related activities available in your area.
Dog clubs are a fun and affordable way to have quality training time with your dog. They are also a wonderful way to meet other ‘doggy folks’ which can help when bouncing ideas or sharing stories. Many clubs ask for an annual fee to make you a member and then to pay a small fee each time you attend. Dog clubs usually consist of a number of trainers and participants can work their way up into categories at their own pace. Remember, there’s no pressure, it’s for fun and to provide stimulus for your furry pal. Be sure to contact a club before attending to find out what the protocol is. Often you need an information session before actually turning up with your dog.
There also may be groups conducting activities such as Rally obedience, flyball and lure coursing. Some communities have walking groups where dogs may accompany their owners.
In Logan, the local council offer free seminars throughout the year covering ‘Dog Body Language/Dog Park Etiquette, Barking and Dog Behaviour. Bookings are necessary and pet cannot attend.
