Preventative Dental Care for your Dog
Next time you’re flashing your pearly whites give a thought to your dogs teeth. Any sign of discolouration or bad breath? Perhaps your dog hasn’t been eating much lately? When was the last time his/her teeth were examined?
Long lasting dental issues can lead to a number of negative health outcomes.
Infections can result in bacterial toxins can even end up affecting damage to your dogs organs. That is because bacteria can enter the bloodstream. Around ¾’s of canine dental health issues are serious enough to need a vet consultation.
Consider the size of your dog when choosing a dental product. Also, older dogs may no longer be able to chew with the same intensity and strength.
Along with raw bones there are masses of products to promote chewing and healthy teeth. Anything from a standard nylon based bone right through to those with added scents and flavours, raw hides and even those chew toys which have a type of flossing outcome.
Remember to get to the ‘root’ of all your dogs dental problems. Ask your vet or check out your local supplier for products and find out what is right for your dog.
