8 Reasons Your Dog Might Pee in your House.
If your previously house-trained dog has an accident in the house it could be time to see the vet to rule out any medical issues e.g. urinary tract infection.
Anxiety about something inside. Please consider seeing a qualified trainer for this type of problem. There is a great possibility you as a dog owner can turn this around.
He is marking territory. Another reason to consider professional advice.
Fear or anxiety about something outside. You may not be able to control sounds from outside. If fido is being agitated by something outside many people find music left on helps to dim the intensity of the sound attracting a reaction. With his incredible hearing capacity you may never know what the sound is that upsets him. He can smell accidents from the past and decides that is a place to ‘go’.
There has been a change in your routine. He has come from a place where he was an outdoor dog and hasn’t been housetrained yet.
Perhaps dog has been to a kennel or some place where he is forced to eliminate on an unusual surface or in an out-of-routine circumstance. E.g. at the kennel he will only be offered a certain amount of time outside on the grass. If he has to ‘go’ within the confines of his caged area some dogs may continue the habit on arriving home.
Punishment will only worsen a situation as it may result in your dog being too fearful to eliminate in your presence even when you want him to. Don’t rule out going back to the basics of house training and starting over. It’ll be so much faster than when he was a pup.
